Þórsmörk

The destination is Þórsmörk, also known as Thorsmork in English, the mystical "Woods of Thor the Thundergod". This is where the people of Iceland escape to when they need to get away from it all. Þórsmörk is protected by streams and glacial rivers that cut through the rugged terrain, making crossing a treacherous journey that requires specially modified vehicles and extreme caution.

Our first stop of the day is the breathtaking Seljalandsfoss waterfall, a powerful cascade of water that drops 60 meters with a constant rush. If conditions allow, you can even take a walk behind the waterfall for a truly immersive experience. As we continue our journey, the road begins to crumble away, allowing nature to envelop your senses in its raw beauty.

To the south of Þórsmörk lies the infamous volcano Eyjafjallajökull, its peak covered in glacial ice and snow. Along our route, we will encounter the Gígjökull glacier lagoon, a hidden gem that has been lost to the maps since 2010 when it was buried under volcanic debris during the catastrophic flood caused by the Eyjafjallajökull eruption.

Our exploration of Þórsmörk Nature Reserve will vary depending on the day's weather and conditions, but you can expect to discover canyons, woodlands, and caves that provide the perfect backdrop for short walks. Join us on this thrilling adventure as we delve into the heart of Iceland's most enchanting wilderness.
