South Coast & Glacier Lagoon
A day filled with the breathtaking wonders of Iceland's south shore. Prepare to be mesmerized by the majestic Skógarfoss waterfall, cascading down with a 60m drop, the vast black sand desert stretching as far as the eye can see, and the opportunity to sail amidst icebergs during the summer months, creating an unforgettable experience.
As you journey through Iceland's stunning landscape, you will encounter some of the country's largest glacier rivers, the mysterious black sands, and the imposing Öræfajökull glacier, the second largest active volcano in Iceland. The highlight of the tour is the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, where chunks of ice break off the glacier's edge, creating a mesmerizing display of icebergs floating in the crystal-clear waters.
The history of Jökulsárlón is as fascinating as its beauty. As the climate cooled in the 1200s, the glacier began to advance, reaching its peak in the Little Ice Age from 1600-1900. The glacier continued to advance until about 1890, when it was only 1km from the coast at Jökulsá river. Witness the remnants of this glacial history as you marvel at the icebergs floating in the lagoon, a testament to the ever-changing landscape of Iceland.
Join us on this extraordinary journey through Iceland's south shore, where nature's drama unfolds before your eyes in a spectacle of ice and water.
