Iceland In a Nutshell

Embark on a journey through the breathtaking landscapes of Iceland with our signature day trip, Iceland in a Nutshell. This excursion is a perennial favorite among our guests, offering a perfect blend of natural wonders and historical treasures. As we depart from Reykjavik in the morning, we are greeted by the majestic sight of Kaldidalur, also known as Cold Valley. To our right, the imposing Langjökull glacier stretches out over nearly 1,000 square kilometers, resting on a rugged volcanic base. In the right weather conditions, we ascend the slopes of Langjökull in a specially modified super-jeep, allowing for an intimate and chilling encounter with nature's icy embrace. Our journey continues through the stunning landscapes of Húsafell to the mesmerizing Hraunfossar waterfalls. Here, water cascades straight out of lava cliff faces into the glacial river Hvítá, creating a spectacle of raw beauty.

Delving into ancient history, we visit the historic site of Reykholt, once home to Iceland's legendary chieftain and writer, Snorri Sturluson. It is here that he penned some of the greatest Sagas of the Icelanders, preserving the rich culture and history of the Viking age. Witness Iceland's oldest man-made structure, Snorri Sturluson's 13th-century hot tub, before we conclude our day in Reykjavik. Our final stop is the remarkable Deildartunguhver, the most productive hot spring in the Northern Hemisphere and a vital source of heating for western Iceland. En route back to Reykjavik, we soak in the scenic and historic beauty of Hvalfjörður fjord, completing our unforgettable journey through the wonders of Iceland.
