Five Days In The South Of Iceland

Day 1– Welcome to Iceland

You will be picked up by a private taxi and driven straight to the Blue Lagoon, where you can relax in the magical, mineral rich water after your flight.  2 – 3 hours later the driver will take you to your accommodation in Reykjavik.

Day 2 – Your Adventure Begins

Your adventure begins at your hotel in the morning. An Icelandic driver with decades of experience picks you up and brings you to the beautiful lava tunnel, followed by a visit to a breathtaking volcanic crater called Kerið. As the day continues you will move onto the Golden Circle and Glacier tour route with its ever changing, beautiful landscapes and views. Gullfoss is one of the best known waterfalls in Iceland and named after its golden appearance in the afternoon sun. in the famous Geysir area you can see Strokkur shoot 100° Celsius hot water up to the sky. The first national park in Iceland is Þingvellir. The national park, famous for incredible history, geological wonders and immense political importance is also a gorgeous place for a hike. Your day comes to an end in Þingvellir.

Day 3 – Cliffs, Coast and Black Sand Beaches

As you make your way along the south coast, you will experience Seljalandsfoss from very close up as you walk behind it. As your journey continues, you drive along the beautiful Island Mountains, Eyjafjöll with many stunning views, waterfalls, and nature stops such as Skógarfoss waterfall, Dyrhólaey, a beautiful cliff with birds and puffins in the summer.

Reynisfjara is a black sand beach at the unique village of Vík in Mýrdalur.

Then after a quick break in Vík, the journey is headed to Hotel Katla where you will spend the night.

Day 4 – Diamonds in The Rough

The day begins with a journey from Hotel Katla, further south, past Fjaðrárgljúfur, Katla and through Kirkjubæjarklaustur to the Glacier Lagoon and the Diamond Beach which sit alongside the largest glacier in Iceland, Vatnajökull. We then head back along the south coast to Hotel Rangá.

Boat ride on the glacier lagoon 

Glacier hike on Vatnajokull, Europe’s largest Glacier,

Helicopter flight from Skaftafell over the edge of the glacier.

 

Day 5 – Back to The Capital

As you make your way back to where the journey began, we visit Friðheimar tomato farm.

Friðheimar has a wonderful, family owned restaurant which serves delicacies grown at the farm.

After the visit the drive continues back along the south farmland to the city where your driver will return you to your accommodations
